About Us

We believe that time spent talking, listening and thinking about the relationship between you and your child will positively transform your family.
Psychotherapeutic work with parents and young children can deal with a variety of challenges such as:
| Persistent crying | Shyness |
| Feeding/weaning difficulties | Separation anxiety |
| Trouble settling and/or sleeping | Attachment disorders |
| Tantrums | Adjustment difficulties |
| Bed wetting | Oppositional behaviours and other behavioural challenges |
Children grow up in many different types of family groupings – including ‘intact’ families, separated parents, foster care, adoptive families, single parents and same sex parents. Although a young child’s needs do not change, the family situation may place particular strains on relationships.
In the Solamh Clinic we have expertise in working with parents and children from many family situations. A child’s need for tenderness, safety and consistency in their relationship with their parent(s)/Carers is universal; however, the way in which parents respond to infant & young child communication will differ depending on their own family experience. Solamh Parent Child Relationship clinic can offer specialist and accessible help to families who may be struggling to find their feet in their relationship with their young children.
We provide support, counselling and a range of psychotherapy (including Talk Therapy, Play Therapy, Theraplay and Sand Tray Therapy) to parents and children, which strengthens and enhances their relationship. The benefits of this work carry over to the parenting of other children in the family and the family relationship in general.
We also provide a therapeutic space to adults for one to one or couples sessions around a variety of challenges around the decision to become parents including:
- Support before, during and after the Adoption process
- Support throughout the IVF process
- Parenting supports
